Setting up monitoring agents is an essential part of device configuration. Depending on your monitoring goals, you can select any combination of available agents. You can update the list of active agents at any time by editing the device settings.

To update locations for multiple devices at once, see Editing locations for multiple devices.

Editing Locations for an Existing Device

  1. In the Device Manager, open the Actions menu for the device and select Edit.

  2. Go to the Locations tab and choose the agents you want to use.

The number of monitoring agents you select impacts the accuracy of results. Using only one location may lead to false alerts caused by temporary agent or network issues unrelated to the monitored device.

Monitor from at least five locations for more accurate results and to avoid false alerts caused by network fluctuations.

You can also add a new agent to multiple devices at once.

Monitoring agents are grouped by geographic region: America, Europe & Middle East, Asia, Australia, and Africa.

If you have Private Agents installed, they will appear in a separate section under Private Agents.

We also provide several Premium Locations.

The Beijing (China) monitoring location operates behind the the Great Firewall of China. Because filtering rules are controlled and frequently updated by the Chinese government, monitoring results from this agent may vary.
